MEET THE TEAM

Ian Bowles

Ian Bowles, Co-Founder & Managing Director

Ian is co-founder and Managing Director of WindSail Capital Group. He brings over 25 years of experience in the energy and environmental sectors. Prior to WindSail, he served as Massachusetts Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs, where he oversaw a landmark restructuring of utility and environmental regulation which included making MA a top ranked state in energy efficiency, renewable energy and greenhouse gas emissions reductions. He was also chairman of the MA Water Resources Authority and the founding chairman of the MA Clean Energy Center. Earlier in his career, he served on the National Security Council staff of President Bill Clinton and was a Vice President at Conservation International where he played a key role in creation of the four million acre Central Suriname Nature Reserve.

Ian is a board member at the New England Clean Energy Council, Longroad Energy, RGS Energy and the Museum of Science. He is an advisor to several other leading clean energy companies. Ian received his A.B. from Harvard College and a Masters degree from Oxford University. A native of Woods Hole, MA, he currently lives in Dover with his wife and two children.

Michael Rand

Michael Rand, Co-Founder & Managing Director

Michael is co-founder and Managing Director of WindSail Capital Group. Michael brings to WindSail over 20 years of experience in private equity investing, structured finance and corporate finance. Prior to founding WindSail, Michael spent 11 years as a private equity professional, most recently as a Managing Director of GB Merchant Partners, a division of Gordon Brothers Group. Previously, Michael served as a Principal at Palladin Capital Group, a New York based middle market private equity firm. Prior to joining Palladin, Michael was a member of the Leveraged Finance/Merchant Banking Division of CIBC World Markets.

Michael received a B.S. from Georgetown University and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. He currently sits on the board of Coaching4Change and lives in Wellesley, MA with his wife and three children.

Matthew O'Rourke

Matthew O'Rourke, Principal

Matt is a Principal who joined the WindSail team in October 2015.  Matt has 10 years of broad industry experience as a lender and has directly managed over $450 million in credit facilities during his career as a portfolio manager.  Prior to joining WindSail, Matt was a Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager and founding team member at Salus Capital Partners, a $1.4-billion credit fund.  At Salus, Matt was responsible for underwriting, structuring and managing a diverse portfolio of asset-based loans to lower middle market businesses across the U.S. and Canada.  Prior to joining Salus Capital, Matt was an Assistant Vice President at People’s United Bank, a $44-billion commercial bank where he sourced, underwrote and managed a portfolio of middle market commercial loans. Matt began his career at People’s United Bank as a credit analyst and underwent an eighteen-month credit training and rotational program within the bank.

 

Matt is a member of the Commercial Finance Association and the Turnaround Management Association. Matt received a B.S. in Business Administration cum laude from Bryant University. He currently lives in South Boston, MA with his wife.

Jessica Hart, VP of Finance and Operations

Jessica is Vice President of Finance and Operations and joined the
WindSail team in 2018. Prior to joining WindSail, Jessica worked at
Station Houston, an accelerator for early stage technology companies,
where she led day to day operations.  Prior to joining Station
Houston, Jessica was Director of Business Development and Marketing at
Main Street Capital, where she led deal sourcing and marketing efforts
for the lower middle market investment group.  Prior to joining Main
Street Capital, Jessica was Vice President of Finance and
Administration for Clarium Capital Management, a San Francisco based
hedge fund. Previously, Jessica was a staff accountant at Spencer
Capital Management, a New York based hedge fund.

Jessica received a B.S. from the University of Montana and an MBA from
the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. She
currently lives in Boston, MA with her husband and son.

Gregory Zuboff

Gregory Zuboff, Vice President

Gregory is a Vice President who joined the WindSail team in the spring of 2014. Prior to joining WindSail, Gregory worked as an analyst for the Bank of New York Mellon. Previously, Gregory interned at PHOTON Consulting, a boutique solar energy consulting firm.

Gregory received a B.S. summa cum laude from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He currently lives in Boston, MA.

Carolina Madrid, Associate

Carolina is an Associate who joined the WindSail team in June 2019. Prior to joining WindSail, Carolina worked as a research associate at Dimensional Fund Advisors and as a wealth management specialist at The Vanguard Group. Previously, Carolina interned at Environmental Working Group, an environmental non-profit.

Carolina received a B.S.E. from Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering and has passed all three levels of the CFA Program. She currently lives in Boston, MA.

Jeff is an Associate who joined the WindSail team in the fall of 2019. Prior to joining WindSail, Jeff worked as an analyst at AGC Partners, a technology focused investment bank. Previously, Jeff worked for State Street and interned at Natixis in their LATAM trading division.

 

Jeff received a B.A. from Amherst College in Economics and History where he played varsity basketball. He currently lives in Brookline, MA.

Suneer Sood, Associate

Suneer is an Associate who officially joined the WindSail team in the summer of 2017, but originally served as an intern and then a Summer Associate. Prior to joining WindSail, Suneer interned at Search Fund Accelerator specifically working with the Arden Bay, LLC team. Previously, Suneer interned at The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc, a boutique investment banking firm.

Suneer received a B.S. cum laude from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He currently lives in Cambridge, MA.

Ken Poudrier

Ken Poudrier, Chief Financial Officer

Ken serves as WindSail's Chief Financial Officer, overseeing all financial and compliance functions for the firm.  Ken has previously held positions of Senior Director at SS&C Technologies, Inc. and Principal/Director of Operations at Gravity Financial, LLC. Prior to this, he held various roles at State Street, Bisys Hedge Fund Services and Beacon Consulting Group. Ken has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry, with more than 10 years in the alternative investment space. His experience covers all aspects of fund operations and he has provided outsourced CFO, management company and fund administration services to both start-up and established hedge fund, private equity and venture capital funds over the years.

Ken attended Brandeis University where he played varsity baseball and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Jane Silfen, Operating Advisor

Jane joined the WindSail team in 2018 as an Operating Advisor.  She has over a decade of experience in project finance, infrastructure development, and sustainability. Jane is the founder of Mayfair Advisors LLC, a sustainable investment advisory firm, and was previously a Vice President at Encourage Capital, LLC where she was responsible for the firm's sustainable infrastructure investment and advisory business. Jane has also held public sector roles as the Director of Economic Development and an HBS Leadership Fellow at the Trust for Governors Island, and at the U.S. Department of Transportation's Office of Credit Programs.  Jane began her career in investment banking at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

 

Jane is a board member at Phillips Edison & Company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. She currently lives in New York, NY.
